Heaven is part of a series of thirteen light installations that explore the pleasurable thresholds of vision and perception. Within an almost blinding cloud of light, viewers make out the word "heaven," which appears almost as an after-image. All the pieces in the series of shadow-words make poetic reference to forms of whiteness, both profane and illuminating. Each of the thirteen pieces is constructed as an array of fluorescent lights, the backsides of which are blacked-out with gaffer tape. The effect created produces a refractive shadow which is composed to create typography or bit-map graphics. Texts authored in collaboration with Tami Sagher.
