Robert Israel's set and costume designs for opera and theater have been seen at international venues such as the Lincoln Center Theater; the Metropolitan Opera; the National Operas in London and Tokyo; and the Paris and Vienna Opera, and many other international locations. Israel also designed the world premieres of four operas by Philip Glass. The models for his stage design of Parsifal (Richard Wagner), The Voyage (Philip Glass), Oedipus and a Greek Satyr Play give insight into his aesthetic and architectural approach to the stage as space of representation.
